The Kobold turbine can be considered a pioneer technology and today the Straits area has become the world’s first hub able to create an environmental, technological energy providing system. An agreement Protocol puts in synergy a number of players who, yet active in this field, have operated as “soloists” so far. The document has been subscribed by the Major of Messina, Francantonio Genovese; the Territorial Marketing Councilor Antonella Cocchiara; the manager of ATM, Claudio Conte; the Commissioner of the Fair, Nico Bartolotta; the President of Messina Ambiente, Antonino Dalmazio; the Director of the Institute of Advanced Technology for Energy of CNR “Nicola Giordano”, Gaetano Cacciola; the Director of the Institute for the Marine Coast Environment of the CNR, Ermanno Cirsafi; engineer Alessandro Corso, “Ponte di Archimede” S.p.A., chaired by Elio Matacena and the President of the Horcinus Orca Foundation, Gaetano Giunta.
The Protocol reflects the guidelines of the last 15th June Deliberation of the Municipal Council. It also contains the objectives and their strategies of accomplishment, as well as the roles and the commitments of the subscribers in order to promote wealth and responsible development through the production of renewable energy from alternative sources.
We’re dealing with an unpublished alliance which concentrates its research efforts and puts into practice all the necessary technologies for the exploitation of hydrogen as an energy source, together with the support for any enterprise creation in such field. Messina’s recent tradition follows the same path, having become the marine current energy capital thanks to the installation of the world’s first Kobold turbine prototype, invented by Elio Matacena, able to produce energy from this kind of source still unexploited and ignored. The participation of UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Development – is not a coincidence; in fact it’s supporting the dissemination of this technology in Asian countries with economies in transition. UNIDO has also widened its span of action creating a study center for marine energies. Besides, the agreement Protocol gives great importance to training and to networking economical and social resources, which according to the mentioned intentions, are all focused in making … energy, real sound currency of the XXI century.
